Long Weekend

We both had Monday off this weekend, so we headed down to the cape and then capped it all off with apple picking. We were hoping to see a lost manatee that was in Dennis, but by the time we got there they had started transporting it back to Florida. We were very sad to hear the poor thing died on the way down. We can't imagine how it made it all the way up to Massachusetts in the first place!

The weather has been awesome, and I'm soaking up as much sun as possible since I know eventually we will be in a deep freeze! The apple picking was awesome, but of course now I have all sorts of apples I don't know what to do with. Terry is happy that our apple picking day likely capped off all of my required fall New England activities. Until next year of course!

Lunch and the Fryeburg Fair

The past few weeks have been a bit crazy, but I was so happy Stephanie and her babe Lindsay came to see me in Brookline for lunch. She is soooo cute. In this pic, she's rubbing her eyes because she just woke up.

On Saturday, Terry and I went to Fryeburg, Maine, for the Fryeburg Fair, and then stayed the night in Portland, Maine. Fryeburg has the oldest agricultural fair in Maine, and is about 3 1/2 hours from Boston. We weren't sure what to expect, but I did see things I had never seen before, like an Ox Pulling contest and harness racing. We definitely had a good time, and the leaves are starting to change up north, so it was pretty. I'm getting in as many "New England Fall" activities as possible while I can!

A Day at the Races

On Saturday a bunch of us headed to Suffolk Downs, the local horse track, for MassCap Day, the biggest race of the year for the slightly downtrodden place. Since we know absolutely nothing about horse racing, we had a mix of results, though Terry did very well, and you can see from the pics that I did win one race. I will try not to spend my $1.30 winnings all in one place. Terry did very well though. It was a fantastic sunny day, and in the end we were exhausted after all the sun and beer and gambling. Can't wait for next year!
